Dental Assistant (DA)

Broad Top Area Medical Center, located in Huntingdon County, PA, is seeking a full-time Dental Assistant to assist the dental provider in direct dental care. Specific duties and responsibilities include:

• Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures to assure patient care
• Sterilize and arrange instruments in trays and prepare treatment rooms for patients
• Exposing and processing radiographs
• Primary impressions
• Placement and removal of dental matrix
• Placement and removal of temporary restorations
• Application of topical agents
• Charts oral findings
• Ensure compliance with infection control and safety protocols
• Maintain accurate patient records and assist with scheduling appointments
• Responsible for dental supplies; pricing, ordering, inventory and stocking
• Assist in dental lab as directed
• Work with patients in communicating appropriate patient education aspects of patient care, i.e.: extraction or surgery treatment, root canal therapy, etc.
• Indoctrination of other dental personnel (temporary assistants, clinical students, others in related field)
• Perform other duties as required, including billing and insurance claims processing

 QUALIFICATIONS

• Graduate of a dental assistant program complete with radiographic instruction with clinical experience to carry out required functions
• Passed National Radiographic Exam
• Previous experience as a dental assistant is a plus but not mandatory
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
• Proficient in dental software and Microsoft Office Suite
