Broad Top Area Medical Center, operating 12 medical offices in Huntingdon County, PA, is seeking a full-time or part-time Nutritionist Assistant for the WIC clinic in Everett, PA. The successful candidate will perform the following duties associated with the WIC Program:

  • Assists the nutritionist with various duties including answering phone, scheduling, filing, documentation follow-up, anthropometrics, bloodwork screenings and maintaining supplies.
  • Follows the WIC certification procedure and assures compliance with the rules and regulations for certification.
  • Assures local agency compliance with separation of duties, verifying and documenting identity, income, address, and motor voter information.
  • Refers clients with other social services and health needs to the appropriate community organization.
  • Responsible for nutrition counsel and support as outlined in State Agency and Local Agency policy and procedure, trainings and in-services, support materials, and allied health trainings (not limited to smoking cessation, substance abuse, anthropometrics, dental assessment)
  • Responsible for breastfeeding promotion and support as outlined in State Agency policy and procedure,  “Breastfeeding Handbook- A guide for WIC Staff”, trainings and in-services, support materials (videos and pamphlets), Local Agency “Breast Pump Policy”, all policy attachments, and training and education as required by individual employees’ credentials.
  • Participates in staff meetings and continuing education programs as required or suggested by State and Local WIC Agencies.
  • Assists in the entering of data, including documentation of all contacts, into the computer system.
  • Assists with the overall set-up, operation and clean-up of the clinic.
  • Maintains clean, professional appearance and attitude; name tags are required.
  • Performs other duties requested by the Director and /or Nutrition Education, Outreach and Breastfeeding Coordinators.
  • Attends regular State Agency and Local Agency paraprofessional trainings and in-services on infant nutrition, formula, breastfeeding support, promotion and management, counseling skills, nutrition material, and software applications.

Requirements of the Candidate:

  1. A minimum of a High School Diploma/GED.
  2. At least one year of responsible experience in the WIC program or related work.
  3. Knowledgeable of the supplemental food package, benefit issuance procedure and Formula Authorization Forms.
