Assistant Quality Chief
The Assistant Quality Chief is responsible for coordination and maintenance of a comprehensive continuous readiness program to review and identify opportunities for improvement to achieve excellence in the delivery of healthcare. Incumbent assists with maintaining continuous readiness for external and VISN site reviews and in developing Quality Improvement processes to ensure that all required information is procured and acted upon to meet the expectations of the organization. Responsible for oversight and compliance with external accreditation agencies and internal regulatory bodies while maintaining strict confidentiality. Incumbent is responsible for oversight of the following: monitoring, trending, and analyzing data, interpreting regulatory and accreditation standards, interpreting VA handbooks and directives regarding quality management/performance improvement/patient safety issues; collaborating with the organizational leaders, Program Managers and Executive Leadership; and monitoring progress of reviews and follow-up action items to ensure completion in a timely manner. The Assistant Service Chief has direct oversight for Quality Improvement Specialist Nurses, Infection Preventionist Nurse, and any administration staff as assigned.
Preferred qualifications for this Candidate include 3-4 years of professional nursing experience for a nurse with either a Master’s degree in nursing or a Master’s degree in a related field with a BSN or a Doctoral degree in nursing or a related health field. The nursing degree must have been received from a nursing program accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and approved by the State-accrediting agency at the time the program was completed by the nurse. The nurse’s license must be current, active, full and unrestricted.
At least 2 years quality improvement/ performance improvement, data collection experience
At least 2 years experience supervisory experience
At least 2 years in a Quality Improvement Nurse position
At least 2 years’ experience as a manager or Supervisor of Quality Management, Accreditation, Patient Safety or Risk Management
Experience with The Joint Commission (TJC) Survey preparation and continued readiness requisites, preferably with responsibility and oversight of the readiness activities
Experience with Commission on the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) survey preparation and continued readiness requisites, preferably with responsibility and oversight of the readiness activities
Experience with Office of Inspector General regulatory inspection readiness activities, preferably with responsibility and oversight of the readiness activities.
