Counselor
Counseling and advising at Minnesota North College – Vermilion Campus are an integral part of the educational process and instructional effort. Our comprehensive counseling services include academic, career, personal, and crisis counseling in order to assist students in achieving their educational, career, and life goals. A counselor works with students and provides accurate information regarding career programs, transfer options, college policies and procedures. Counselors are knowledgeable about campus, community, and virtual resources to refer students as needed. Counselors also provide academic instruction and student development programming which may include, but is not limited to, teaching Student Support Services courses (SSSC) such as Transition to College, Choosing A Major & Career, and Introduction to Personal Finance.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in counseling or counseling psychology.
- Teaching and Learning Competency Requirement
- All new faculty must complete the teaching and learning requirement during their probation period.
Preferred Qualifications
- Teaching experience with a diverse learner population.
- A commitment to cultural diversity and inclusive teaching.
- Knowledge of TRIO and TRIO Student Support Services programs.
