Position Summary:
The Vice President/Chief Health Informatics Officer is a physician that promotes the Epic EHR optimization and effective use to ambulatory clinicians and administrators for the organization.
Job Duties:
Serves as liaison between Ambulatory administration, clinicians, project governance, executive sponsors, and the Epic team for optimization, upgrades, and management of Key Performance Indicators.
Leads Ambulatory provider-focused committees regarding the Epic EHR
Develops and chairs clinician committees tasked with reviewing and approving clinical content and developing new content and decision support to promote quality initiatives involving the Epic EHR.
Serves in an ongoing role to help determine which new features to install and to help define strategic clinical priorities for continuous improvement for University Health.

Education/Experience:
- Medical degree required.
- Must have current board certification from the American Board of Medical Specialties.
- A minimum of ten (10) years experience in direct patient care and a minimum of five (5) years’ experience as an Epic EHR provider leader with progressive responsibilities.
- Direct experience in the use and management of Epic EHR required.
- Formal training in healthcare informatics highly preferred.
- Experience as a provider leader in hospitals, medical group practice, or academic medical centers and public hospitals highly preferred.
Licensure/Credentialing:
- Must possess current active and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Texas.
- Valid and unrestricted Federal/State registration to prescribe, dispense, and administer controlled substances.
- Must maintain DEA and DPS registration.
- Qualified as a provider under Medicare or Medicaid programs.
- Must maintain appropriate credentialing and clinical privileges within University Health and/or University Medicine Associates.
- Must follow rules/regulations as set forth by the Texas Medical Board Medical Practice Act.
