TRAUMA SURGEONS-UPMC ALTOONA REGIONAL HEALTH SERVICES

UPMC Altoona Regional Health Services, Inc. seeks Trauma Surgeons (Multiple Openings) in Altoona, PA to specialize in performing emergency surgeries and diagnostic tests and prescribing pre- and post-operative medications and antibiotics; treat severe, life-threatening, penetrating, or blunt force injuries sustained by patients; perform emergency procedures, such as endotracheal tube intubation, pericardiocentesis, and ultrasonographic evaluations, and operations on critical, often multiple, injuries to different organ systems; work collaboratively with other Trauma Surgeons, APPs, Trauma Program Staff, and Hospital Staff; function as the in-house Trauma/EGS Surgeon on duty; respond to trauma activations, trauma consultations, and EGS consultations; round on inpatients at UPMC Altoona Hospital; provide operative care for trauma/EGS patients at UPMC Altoona Hospital.

 Job Responsibilities:

• Specialize in performing emergency surgeries and diagnostic tests and prescribing pre- and post-operative medications and antibiotics;
• Treat severe, life-threatening, penetrating, or blunt force injuries sustained by patients; 
• Perform emergency procedures, such as endotracheal tube intubation, pericardiocentesis, and ultrasonographic evaluations, and operations on critical, often multiple, injuries to different organ systems;
• Work collaboratively with other Trauma Surgeons, APPs, Trauma Program Staff, and Hospital Staff;
• Function as the in-house Trauma/EGS Surgeon on duty; 
• Respond to trauma activations, trauma consultations, and EGS consultations; round on inpatients at UPMC Altoona Hospital; 
• Provide operative care for trauma/EGS patients at UPMC Altoona Hospital.

Qualifications:

• Medical Degree (M.D.)  or equivalent;
• Must have completed residency in General Surgery;
• Must have completed fellowship in Surgical Critical Care;
• Board certification or eligible for Board certification in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care;
• Must have a valid unrestricted PA medical license or eligibility.
